Canopy Bed Repair

This is a Canopy side rail that had broke in half in transit. I repair all kinds of furniture mishaps with very limited tools and supplies. On this repair I used a 5 minute two part epoxy (bonds well and you don't have to wait 24 hours to finish your work).
As you can see (photo to right) the rail broke where the cross metal dowel inserts.
Once epoxy is applied fit the broken parts together.
Photo of reverse side of rail.
As I stated above tools are limited. I used typical bailing twine as a clamp. I made a loop on one end of the twine inserted the other end and pulled it tight. Actually quite affective. A web clamp would be the ideal tool for this job.
Once the two pieces are secure and the epoxy has not cured yet I like to wipe off excess epoxy with a rag and warm water. If you wait until the epoxy has cured its much more difficult to remove and you'll be doing more touch up later.
I usually wait about fifteen minutes before I remove clamps. I used a small standard screw driver to clean the excess epoxy out of the hole so the dowel will fit.
To finish the project I used a black touch up marker to cover up the areas that needed it.
