This traditionally detailed home-office desk system
gives you ultimate layout flexibility. Build only the
sections you need, and combine them in any number of
ways. Corner unit measures approximately 44" across both
back edges. Single unit measures 24" deep and 46" long.

A stylish way to get organized. The best traditional
desk designs always have offered a way to organize
paperwork, and just as important, to keep any clutter
out of sight when you're not working. This writing desk
succeeds on both counts. Our version-built of pine and
finished with a colorful stain-has a decidedly country
flavor, but you can use hardwood and a different finish
to create a look all your own.
Measures 42" high, 34" wide, 17" deep.

Woodworking Plan
Ask anyone who has a
computer, and they'll tell you their old writing desk
doesn't cut it in today's home office. And yet, no two
office areas are alike. For that reason, we designed
this handsome three-piece corner combo. Build all of our
modular furniture componets if you have the room, or
economize and just make the single desk. There are no
bad choices.
Measures 84" wide, 70" deep, 26-1/2" tall. Tabletop
measures 24" deep.

We receive dozens of letters a year from readers
requesting plans for a rolltop desk. Unfortunately, most
plans call for desks too massive for most homes and too
complex for most busy woodworkers. With that in mind,
Jim Downing, our design editor, came up with this
gracefully elegant design. It won’t overpower a room,
yet still has a comfortable 24-1/2 x 44" writing
surface.
Desk is approximately 41" tall, 44" wide, and 25" deep. |

For dining, or accenting your home, this clean-lined
contemporary table will be a welcome addition to any
decor. The top measures 34" wide by 46" long.

Combining the stunning beauty of solid cherry with
quilted maple veneer, this design enhances any room
setting. And there’s a utilitarian side to its
personality. Pull-out sleepers support a drop-down front
that features an imitation leather writing surface. A
large drawer for supplies and ample pigeonhole space in
the desk for paper and letters are supplemented by the
upper cabinet’s roomy shelving.
Measures approximately 73" tall, 31" wide, and 20" deep.

Does a computer workstation look out of place in your
traditional furnishing scheme? Hide its clutter behind
the frame-and-panel front of this handsome cherry
cabinet. The three-panel drop leaf gives you instant
access and a spacious worktop. There’s a pigeonhole to
store your keyboard and mouse, and a shelf that holds a
monitor up to 17-3/4" tall. The doors below hide a pair
of file drawers and plenty of storage for your CPU and
other supplies.
Measures approximately 52" tall, 47-3/4" wide and
24-1/4" deep. |

Capture the golden glow of a special era of
craftsmanship with this timeless design.
Mica panels in a wooden framework, accented with copper
pine-cone motifs, make this a lamp that gets noticed.
You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to cut and
assemble the half laps in the lampshade’s streamlined
framework.
Measures approximately 7" wide at the base and 14" high. |
We’ve seen a great many bookcases in our travels around
the country, but none more good-looking and versatile
than this one. And should you ever have to relocate,
you’ll find the modular pieces making up the bookcase a
breeze to take apart and reassemble. We even include
instructions to build a four-high bookcase.
The two-high bookcase measures approximately 28" tall,
42" wide and 12-1/2" deep. |

Simple, yet stunningly elegant Add to the
Arts-and-Crafts Collection set with this stately
bookcase. We embellished ours with cutouts in the side
panels, reproduction hardware, and glass-framed doors to
capture the quality and ambience of furniture from this
era of craftsmen.
Measures 42-3/8 x 68".

Standing fully 7' tall, with six shelves (five of which
adjust on standards and brackets), this stately walnut
showcase has more than enough room for a librarian’s
ransom in books. Fluted face-frame stiles and rich cove
molding at the top make it a natural for traditionally
styled interiors. The bookcase is approximately 42"
wide, 16" deep, and 7' tall.

Designed to match the futon sofa (DP-00176) and the TV
stand (DP-00259), this sleek, versatile cabinet system
lends itself to any number of furniture pieces that
easily assemble and disassemble. We’ll show you how to
build the components, you decide what your needs are,
and build to suit. The key to the system lies in the
cam-lock knockdown hardware that lets you alter your
furniture as your needs change or grow. If you don’t
foresee the need for the knockdown feature, you can join
the parts by conventional methods, such as screws or
biscuits.
The double-wide unit in the photo, top left,
measures 60" long by 16" deep, and stands 65" tall.

With fluted pilasters and a keyed arch topped by a
broken pediment, this project brings the vocabulary of
classical architecture into the living room.
As a bookcase fitted with wood shelves, it’s a home for
your personal library. By installing lights and glass
shelves you can display fine collectibles. Or, if you
wish, combine the two as we did for the best of both
interests.
In this project you’ll learn how to rout flutes by using
a simple auxiliary base with your plunge router. And
large cove moldings are a breeze with just your tablesaw
and a straightedge.
Measures 75" tall, 38" wide and 12" deep.
