Free Adirondack Plans

An Adirondack chair worthy of great views The combination of straight lines, flat planes and gentle curves that is the signature of the Adirondack chair is familiar even to those who have never had the good fortune to visit the Adirondack Mountains of New York state. While many variations on the Adirondack chair can be found, the essential spirit of the chair has not changed much from its earliest form as outdoor seating for modest cabins, rustic mountain hotels and elegant "great camps," as luxurious mountain retreats were known in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Simple Adirondack chair plan build yourself a nice looking adirondack chair with these free plans. Complete with materials list.

Adirondack chair and footstool plans

Adirondack chair A classic! Perfect for the backyard or deck. Step by step plans and instructions available for immediate download.

Adirondack chair project Sit down, and stay awhile. You'll certainly want to in one of our attractive lawn chairs. The contoured backs and seats are so comfortable they don't even need cushions. The chairs are simple to build, and you'll enjoy them even more knowing you made them yourself. The basic design is familiar, but we've added a Southern touch: The wide, tapering back boards are spread in a fan shape to give them a softer, rounder look. The same shape is used for the armrests, so all the boards can be cut from one pattern. The design works out so the armrests are level. And the rounded end is wide enough to hold a glass or plate.

Adirondack chair and footstool Homemade patio furniture is an excellent weekend project to complement a deck or patio. With a good set of instructions, a few basic power tools, and a little know-how, the results can be outstanding.

Adirondack style garden chair Very simple and inexpensive adirondack chair.

Adirondack rocking chair this rocker was constructed using pine, although a hardier, albeit more expensive, wood will provide many more years of enjoyment.

Adirondack chair very nice and stylish chair.

Homemade patio furniture is an excellent weekend project to complement a deck or patio. With a good set of instructions, a few basic power tools, and a little know-how, the results can be outstanding. For this project, we selected the classic Adirondack style patio furniture founded in the resorts and lodges of the Adirondack Mountains. What makes this style unique -- particularly the chairs -- are the rounded backrest, wide armrests, slatted seat and angled supports that give it a reclined look.

Adirondack furniture has become a standard on decks, porches and patios throughout the world. It's no mystery that this distinctive furniture style has become so popular. Attractive—but rugged—design and unmatched stability are just two of the reasons, and our Adirondack chair offers all of these benefits, and more.

Help Around the House host Henry Harrison helps a guest restore a lovely Adirondack chair. On his elbow grease scale of one to four, Harrison gives this job a three.

Once the yard work and home repairs are done, you'll need a place to relax. Great-looking Adirondack chairs are comfortable as well as easy and affordable to make--much less than the hundreds of dollars you might pay for a manufactured Adirondack chair.

Woodworker Bruce Johnson created this Adirondack chair from cypress.
