I am building a 26x36 detached garage that has so far taking me a year and a half as I am paying as I go. I have an existing 24x24 garage with standard door openings that are too small to drive any midsized or larger car into. We had sold our SUV and now have a Toyota Prius so now my new garage will become my workshop!! . I am now in the process of siding my shop, I am installing T-111 on one side and the back which I'm down to purchasing 4 more sheets to complete then I can start the lap siding for the front and remaining side. I'm hoping complete later this summer if funds permit.
I love to do woodwork as I own a few woodworking related websites.
I would love to hear from people that have built there own shop to get ideas for storage and tool placement. My shop area will be 26x24 with the remaing 12x26 being a weight room rec room. Thanks in advance. |

Well I made my last major purchase for my shop today. I scored new in box 8x9 metal insulated garage doors with top panel windows for $900 (all hardware included). I browsed through craigs list and gave the guy a call. He was headed back home and had the garage doors in his truck and just happened to be driving past my house, so he delivered them. He had purchased them from Home Depot for $1400 thinking he was going to build a garage but he had ended up selling his house.
So all I need now is one 36" door and two windows and electrical and this marathon project will be complete. This summer is looking as though it might be complete. _________________ You can do it yourself!! |
